The A Coruña-based firm oSIGris digitalises the management of small and medium-sized farms with a platform that registers plots of land, provides weather information and warns of pests.
“The easiest and simplest software for your farm management”. This sentence welcomes visitors to the oSIGris website and advertises the digitisation of the field notebook for small and medium-sized farmers, the register with which they organise their farms. Characteristics of the agricultural plot, weather information, pest and disease alerts, treatments, fertilisers. Through a geographic information platform (mobile and web application), oSIGris provides the sector with the ability to determine the productivity of agricultural land, to know which crops would be optimal for the season, to predict the weather or to foresee pests and be prepared to deal with them.
The company from A Coruña has been working in this field since 2018 and only two years later it competed in the Neotec call for applications for grants with which the Ministry of Science finances the start-up of new business projects that require the use of technologies or knowledge applied from research activity and in which the business strategy is based on the development of technology. The evaluation of his project was favourable, but the “insufficient” credit left him on the verge of receiving funds, “only by two points”, recalls Rubén Mella, one of the four founding partners of oSIGris.
